Warning… Spoilers below!

On Billions Season 7 Episode 6, in the picturesque aurora-lit land of Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland- Axe requests to meet with Chuck. Axe asks Chuck for a huge favor… allowing a former billionaire foe, Grigor Andolov (portrayed by John Malkovich), to receive safe passage into the United States…

Who’s The Man in the Olive Drab T-Shirt?

Billionaires Axe and Grigor both supported the Ukranian president in securing arms to defend themselves from Russia. However, Grigor demanded a favor of Axe- he needed to return to the States to handle business with his wife, or else the exiled Russian mogul would lose billions to her in a defunct settlement.

Axe convinced Chuck to temporarily allow Grigor into the U.S., and he would owe the Attorney General a huge favor…

(So, who’s the man in the drab olive t-shirt? It’s a reference for the U.S. Army. Axe and Grigor’s personal gains have helped the U.S. military in some fashion.)

Chuck took the hard news to his second in command, Ira. He sought the advice of another capable of handling this kind of delicate bureaucratic tight walk… Triple H. The CCO of the WWE advised him that he needed a surprise double-heel move

Meanwhile, Todd Krakow (portrayed by Danny Strong) was dating Grigor’s wife in his exile. He led the push for Grigor’s divorce.

Control is an Expression of Fear

Meanwhile, Chuck Sr. brought the eclectic Dr. Swerdlow and a particular case to Chuck Jr. to prosecute. A fertility startup pioneered extracting semen from deceased donors to impregnate. This was a high-stakes case since the recent donor would cause a paternity nightmare riddled with the gray area of the law.

Chuck learned that the donor gave consent before he died. Chuck Sr. confessed the true reason behind the lawsuit. It was a ploy for a custody case. His daughter was being taught religion, which he forbade, vowing to raise his seed as an atheist.

Chuck received advice from a woman who helped him channel his father’s need for control as it was an expression of fear. He encouraged his father that true power is not having to use it. The strategy will get his will without being destructive. So, Chuck Sr. agreed.

Slam Prince’s Ego with a Battering Ram

Bradford encouraged Mike Prince’s employees to give him honest feedback in a focus group. Wendy wanted to head the focus to torpedo Mike. However, Bradford led the helm, and they gave him answers he wanted to hear- since the billionaire was in the room.

Wendy illustrated how ineffective it was and sought a do-over without Mike’s presence. Wendy privately discussed with Wags and Taylor that she wanted to slam Mike Prince’s ego with a battering ram. And if their careers were collateral damage, then it was the cost of taking down a demagogue.

The unfiltered feedback was Prince’s kryptonite. He felt betrayed by his subordinates. Wendy encouraged him to get used to it because far worse feedback would emerge from opposing voters. However, his wife, Andy, gave Mike the pep talk he needed to grow thick skin…

Before Mike’s nationally televised political announcement, he gave Wendy kudos for allowing him to see the unfiltered feedback. Though Andy told Wendy, “she put Mike’s pieces back together after Wendy kicked them around!” Wendy knew she had a new obstacle in her plot to foil Prince’s presidential run.

Frozen Out

Meanwhile, Kate was still conducting her daily duties at MPC, and Wags saw her effectiveness would derail their hidden agenda. So, he planted a seed with her to focus on her Congressional run. Kate resigned, giving alternative candidates. She needed to separate soon, or neither political party would endorse her.

Kate visited her father, Frank, and he gave her an anecdote he experienced in his music manager career. Does she want to be frozen out of Mike Prince’s camp as a congressional politician without a favor to cash in when needed…

Kate changed her mind. She returned to Mike Prince’s camp and planned to run independently under Prince’s ticket.

Double-Heel

Grigor privately met Todd Krakow and delivered a personal message that he would toss Todd off the penthouse roof if he continued to see his wife. Todd vowed to end the relationship. It only gave Grigor ammo to file for divorce on his term for adultery- thus he can save billions. After threatening Todd, Grigor met with Chuck as he had a part to play.

Grigor was immediately apprehended by the FBI. Newscasters were on sight to gain his statement. He cursed the United States and claimed to be a citizen of Russia! The multi-jurisdictional press conference was held. However, the beans were spilled between Todd and Chuck.

It seems Chuck was able to complete that difficult double-heel move Triple H coached. He managed to gain a high-value favor from Axe while allowing a foe into the country to stop a multi-billion dollar divorce case so Grigor could return to Russia’s haven and not be suspected of arming the opposing Ukranians!

Mike Prince’s purchase of prime television paid off as he was trending as an independent. He planned to execute the move monthly. Bradford realized how valuable Wendy is to Mike.

Chuck phoned Axe about the double-heel and reiterated that he will cash in that favor owed to him in the future…

(I assume Chuck will use Axe’s favor against Mike Prince to steamroll his presidential run!) What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

“The Man in the Olive Drab T-Shirt”

In “Billions” S7E6, in Iceland’s scenic Vestmannaeyjar, Axe woos Chuck into granting Grigor Andolov, an exhiled Russian billionaire with ties to the Ukrainian arms trade, a temporary U.S. entry. As Chuck navigates a morally-gray fertility case with his dad, Wendy schemes to crush Mike Prince’s ego ahead of his political ambitions, revealing brutal truths. Elsewhere, Kate juggles her role at MPC and political ambitions, while Grigor’s calculated reunion with his estranged wife’s lover and surprise FBI apprehension unveils Chuck’s master double-heel move. The intrigue thickens, hinting that Chuck’s IOU from Axe might spell disaster for Prince’s presidential dreams!
