Warning… Spoilers below!

On Billions Season 7 Episode 5, Ira and his wife were on a date, and a robber stole his unlocked phone, which contained sensitive documents…

Naughty Phone

Ira took the problem to Chuck to get help retrieving it because it contained sex videos with his wife. Chuck decided to call in a favor upon high.

Chuck visited the newly elected police commissioner Raul Gomez (portrayed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson), telling him to use CCTV footage to track the thief and recover the phone. He claimed the phone had documents pertaining to national security as motivation.

Meanwhile, Daevisha approached Chuck bearing pastries and requesting to join his team in prosecuting Mike Prince for corruption. Of course, Chuck denied her wanting to prosecute Prince at the federal level rather than the state level she reigned.

Ira’s phone was recovered but kept as evidence for national security reasons. Chuck visited Raul’s induction gala to retrieve the phone and saw the new commissioner having a laugh while showing the homegrown videos to colleagues. Chuck learned the phone was confiscated as evidence for the state’s case, which Daevisha spearheaded. Daevisha and Raul tag-teamed Chuck, putting his back against the wall.

She used it as leverage against Chuck to muscle her way as lead prosecutor for indicting Mike Prince. If Chuck refused, the contents of the phone would somehow be leaked

Half Billion Ceiling

Taylor and Philip pressed their team for high-margin ideas, and none of them met their standards until Dollar Bill brought them a winner in the helium space amidst a global shortage. However, the investment was $630 million, and Mike Prince forbade his subordinates from structuring any deals north of half a billion.

The timing was terrible for Taylor and Philip because they had an hour to execute and needed authorization from Mike or Scooter. Yet, the pair were meeting with rapper Killer Mike at his private listening party to gain his celebrity endorsement. After some wheeling and dealing, Prince and Killer Mike came to an agreement.

However, their absence of approval allowed them to miss the window for the capital gains deal. They lost a projected $1.4 billion. Looking at the loss, Mike gave Wags the authority to approve high-value deals in his absence.

The Beginnings of a Plan

It was a learning lesson for Mike, showing how expensive it was when he lacked faith in his team. This revelation also helped Bradford, who had been relentlessly pursuing Wendy’s help in learning more about Mike, to become a better political strategist for the presidential hopeful. Mike approved Wendy to give Bradford all insights about Mike Prince and MPC.

Meanwhile, Kate dreams of ambitions and visits an old frenemy, Bryan Connerty (portrayed by Toby Leonard Moore.) It was a pre-emptive move to ensure he would not be an obstacle in the future. She threatened him with returning to prison, yet he redirected to turn him into an ally by helping him get his law license back. It was an uphill battle, yet she considered it…

After returning Ira’s phone, he asked Chuck why didn’t he sacrifice his deputy. Chuck turned a new leaf in valuing friendship more than work.

Later on, Wendy met with Wags and Taylor about their master plan to torpedo Mike Prince’s presidential bid. The lost helium bid was a strategic setup by Taylor designed for them to fumble, which elevated Wags into approval power. Unlike before, the trio now had the beginnings of a plan to take Mike Prince down!

“The Gulag Archipelago”

In the latest Billions rollercoaster, Ira’s spicy phone goes missing, leading Chuck to wheel and deal with the newly elected police commissioner and a pastry-bearing Daevisha. As Chuck plays high-stakes games over the phone’s salacious contents, Taylor and Philip scramble to secure a lucrative helium deal, only to get tripped up by the absent Mike Prince’s red tape. But hang onto your portfolios: Killer Mike cameos, Kate flexes with old enemies, and Chuck discovers the value of friendship (who knew?). As the dust settles, Wendy, Wags, and Taylor craft a crafty plan to topple Mike Prince’s presidential dreams.
