Previously on Billions Season 5, Mike Prince asserted himself in Axe’s absence. Prince’s bid for the 2028 summer games in New York was lost. He orchestrated the removal of his formidable foe, Chuck Rhoades, as Attorney General. Daevisha Mahar replaced him during the remainder of his term.

Prince’s next political move sees him tunning for President of the United States, and his reigns would be left to Taylor and/or Philip. Chuck was under indictment; however, his bargaining chip came in from Daevisha when he learned of Mike’s funding scheme and made a deal with Davisha to arrest Prince for his own freedom.

Warning… Spoilers below!

On Billions Season 7 Episode 1 Premiere, Mike stormed into his office, violently tossing a printer through Wendy Rhoades’ window, demanding to know why she was so sure he wasn’t fit to be the President of the United States.

Nothing More Dangerous

Then, we flashed back to five months earlier, and Prince cleared the office to meet with Wendy wanting her to back him for a 2024 run rather than in 2028. Although reluctant, Wendy agreed. Then Mike met with Daevisha to learn of Chuck’s appeal for house arrest denial. Daevisha arranged to interview Prince’s key employees for information against Chuck.

Wags and Scooter ambushed Taylor and Philip, informing them that Taylor’s ESP (environmental, social, and governance) brand would be consolidated into one unified firm under Mike Prince Capital (MPC). They didn’t like it and went over their heads to Mike— though he was busy and had to settle for meeting with Kate.

Chuck was summoned to a family dinner with his father, Wendy, and his children. He pleaded that he would not be convicted of charges despite the optics.

Later, Wendy met with Wags, seeking to contact Axe as he was the only one who could stop Prince’s bid. She shared her concern about Mike running for President. Citing if he wins it could unleash untamed power, and she didn’t want to be a part of it.

Wendy confided in Wags that there is nothing more dangerous than a man who’s assured he’s never wrong. Combine that with wealth, intelligence, and a God complex- he would become an unstoppable demagogue. She desired to gut Prince’s campaign before he reached the White House.

Then, Wendy met with Orrin Bach to locate and relay a message to Axe but without success.

Robin Hood of NYC

Chuck met with Daevisha wanting to know her entire plan. She denied him, needing him as a continued scapegoat in the public while she bled Prince’s key employee for intel.

Meanwhile, Taylor and Philip expressed their concerns to Kate about their brand (Taylor Mason Carbon) being dissolved. They learned the hard way that change had already been put in motion as their group was being consolidated.

In the morning, Chuck and his attorney, Ira Schirmer, met with Daevisha, and suddenly the pesky reporter Lucien Porter crashed their meeting. In a twist, Lucien changed his stance and pleaded that he had sources that Chuck was innocent of his accusations. Claiming the twice-removed AG was the real crusader against factions of billionaires who put him in their crosshairs. They denounced the theory (in hopes of keeping their cover)…

Lucien ran his story, and his headline made Chuck look like the Robin Hood of NYC. He was being railroaded for doing his job of riding corruption. Chuck saw the move as a political chess move to clear his name.

Dollar’s Back!

Mike met with Mark Cuban, asking him to run as his Vice President. Cuban declined him, asserting that Mike devised the meeting to see if the fellow billionaire would run against him for office.

Daevisha spoke with Mike about Chuck’s resurgence as that of Eliot Ness. She urged him to have headlines like Lucien’s suppressed.

Suddenly, Taylor and Philip confronted Mike about his micromanaging their reign of MPC. Mike desired they present a unified front while he ran for President, and after some negotiations, they agreed to his terms.

Although Wendy backed Mike at the meeting, in private, Taylor shared her concerns with Wendy as Mike used a Hitler quote to motivate his team.

Taylor and Philip sought “Dollar” (Bill Stern) for their team. He declined them as he didn’t want to return to corporate office bureaucracy. However, Dollar reconsidered and returned to MPC– foul mouth and all. Mike didn’t like it but agreed to Taylor and Philip operating his firm how they sought fit.

After all of Wendy’s attempts to contact Axe, he finally meets with her. He urged her to leave MPC though she couldn’t walk away from the firm they built. She needed Prince’s reign to end. Suddenly, Wags and Taylor joined the duo, and the old gang was back

“Tower of London”

In a high-stakes premiere episode of Billions Season 7, Mike’s explosive entry and presidential aspirations set the stage for political intrigue. Wendy, worried about Mike’s “God complex,” tries to rally the old gang, including the elusive Axe, fearing the disaster a Mike Prince presidency might spell. Amidst corporate power plays, Chuck’s image revamp to the “Robin Hood of NYC,” and a surprising return from “Dollar”, the line between allies and adversaries blur, promising a roller-coaster of a season!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5
