The Chi Season 6 Episode 7 Recap “Long Live”

Previously on The Chi Season 6 Episode 6, Kevin, Jake, Papa, and the crew celebrate a major milestone. Emmett questions Douda. Kiesha asks for help. Jamal issues a warning to Bakari. Shaad makes a potentially life-altering decision.

Warning… Spoilers below!

On The Chi Season 6 Episode 7, Papa was devastated after learning of his father’s death! His friends, Kevin and Jake, tried to console him, but he wanted to be alone. Kenya, too, tried to comfort him, but he took his frustrations out on her and cast her away- citing the last words of his father that he wasn’t ready for teen parental support responsibilities…

Who Killed Pastor Jackson?

Bakari was so distraught about Pastor Jackson’s murder since the preacher took him in from the streets and treated him like a son. Bakari suspected Nuck was the one who killed Pastor Jackson and confronted him at gunpoint. Nuck pleaded with Bakari that he was forced to murder the pastor because he opposed their organization. Nuck forced Bakari to back down, or else he would be killed.

Emmett stopped Keisha from leaving again. He vowed to fix their situation with Douda. However, Keisha decided to visit her old beau, Nuck, who is Douda’s second in charge. She asked if he could ensure her family’s safety from Douda, yet Nuck couldn’t keep that promise. So, she asked him to support Emmett since he worked for their illicit organization…

Unpacking Trauma

Keisha visited her therapist, opening up and receiving a revelation. She discovered most of her issues may have derived from her mother, Nina. The therapist encouraged her to invite her mother to help her heal and overcome her issues.

Although Keisha was reluctant, she invited Nina, and the pair unpacked some deep therapeutic trauma.

Keisha felt like she was a burden as a child. Nina wanted to be “a good daughter” to her mother, which meant having a family. However, she didn’t want marriage or children. So, when Keisha’s father left, Nina was forced to be the breadwinner and perhaps neglected to be a nurturer. Keisha felt unwanted by her mother, opening a new can of worms to sort…

Ageless Advice

Victor and Jake finally discussed the issues going on. Victor confessed to Jake that he was an unwanted accomplice to a murder at Douda’s hands. Jake advised him to keep quiet and not turn himself in because the community needed him. He couldn’t help the community from jail

Victor discusses with Fatima’s friends about starting a family. They hardballed him but ultimately gave their blessings. Victor then asked Fatima about starting a family

Shattered

One night Shaad and his lady were sleeping, and someone tried to break in. He grabbed one of the shotguns from the stash Bakari asked him to hold and scared the burglar away. She was frightened to learn of what he was hiding and demanded he gets rid of the guns or he had to go! Shaad forced Bakari to accept the weapons, and the youngster took them to his girlfriend’s house, pleading that she stash them.

Meanwhile, Jemma and Maisha had a spat over their working relationship as Jemma sought to sign G as another artist to manage. Maisha’s next song was a shade diss track to Jemma, and it was a hit!

Emmett confronts Keisha for going behind his back in The Chi Season 6 Episode 7

Before Pastor Jackson’s funeral, Emmett confronted Keisha about going to Nuck behind his back when he vowed to fix their situation and part from Douda. He gave her an ultimatum, yet she swatted his demand.

Douda had the audacity to attend Pastor Jackson’s funeral, yet he was immediately cast away!

Papa gave an emotional eulogy. He was hurt that he no longer had the man he looked up to and guided him in life. (From my personal experience, Pastor Jackson instilled a lifetime of knowledge in his son; he’ll realize it over the years.)

This episode was an emotional rollercoaster. Keisha’s revelation and Papa’s eulogy definitely jerked tears. Tell us your thoughts of this episode in the comments!
