Victor awaits the election results. Kevin’s freedom comes at a cost. Papa falls for an older woman, while Jada advises her single friends. Douda makes a deal.
Warning… Spoilers below!
On The Chi Season 6 Episode 2, Jamal returns to Chicago. He served only months for murder. He was released because the evidence was tampered with, and his case was overturned. He has since turned his life over to God and, wanting to see his younger sister Lynae, sought Victor’s help. The newly elected councilman urged him to give Lynae some time…
An Ultimatum
Keisha gave Emmett an ultimatum: if he makes major decisions without her input, their relationship is over! She didn’t want a man who might walk out at any time. She wanted his commitment, communication, and sacrifice. He agreed never to walk out again. She took him up on his offer to buy a new place. Douda recommended a realtor, though Keisha was reluctant to take his help.
Tiff met with Dante and met his new weed producer, Cairo (portrayed by Brian Keys). His herb was smooth and fire! Tiff and Dante brushed over their fling, yet she was focused on Rob.
As his friends prosper, Shaad feels inadequate lately, so he starts selling his antiques in front of the house. Deja offered to help, yet he declined her.
While shopping, Maisha and Jemma ran into an artist (Sasha Go Hard) seeking a filler to warm her crowd. They accepted despite Maisha only having one hit song.
Darnell visited Emmett, offering fatherly advice about his dealings with Douda, buying Tiff a car, and trouble in paradise.
Tiff shared the weed with Rob. He agreed it was the best they ever smoked (without making them cough.) She proposed to use Cairo as their supplier, ditching Douda. That move complicates things since Rob recently renegotiated a more profitable deal with Douda as their supplier.
Douda joined Emmett on his house-hunting venture and offered to help with his hefty down payment.
Black Men & Mental Health
Victor introduced Jamal to Tracey and her organization. However, it seemed Jamal took a liking to Tracey.
Meanwhile, at dinner, Pastor Stanley Jackson (portrayed by Tory O. Davis) gave Papa and Bakari an earful about their lives. Papa reminded his father that his past wasn’t so clean. Pastor Jackson used the rebuttal to admit to his past transgressions and vowed to show better leadership.
Victor spoke with Fatima about helping Jamal get acclimated to society. This inspired him to focus on mental health issues in Black men.
Later that evening, Douda phoned Tracey, who blocked him and continued reading her novel, “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.”
Douda The Menace
Victor visited Lynae and her new family about Jamal’s request to meet his sister. Although he caused her heartache- she agreed to see him.
Kenya (portrayed by Kennedy Amaya) offered to give Papa a ride home. They shared they both were PKs (preacher’s kids.) They shared a good time. However, the look on Kenya’s face after dropping Papa off makes one believe there’s more to her story arc…
Jamal and Lynae’s reacquaintance went well, and he left her with sound brotherly advice.
Meanwhile, Douda visited Pastor Jackson with a donation. The last time the pastor took Douda’s donation, he was arrested for money laundering. Pastor Jackson declined Douda’s money. The crazed crimelord took the gesture as offensive and left. Bakaari purposely didn’t enter the church, knowing it was a conflict of interest, and was scolded by Douda.
Moving to the Westside
Rob and Tiff met with Cairo as a supplier. He declined and offered to show them how to grow weed themselves. His mission was enlightenment and the quality of marijuana. They were shocked he didn’t want to be paid for his knowledge, so they asked him to invest. He redirected them to find an investor for their supplies, and he would supply them for free. He was on a mission for organic weed.
Emmett showed Keisha the Westside home. She liked it, but it was a distance from Smokey’s. Douda proposed they open a new location closer to his home. She would accept Douda’s money only as a loan. And they agreed to buy a new home!
Who Killed Q?
Maisha was nervous about performing, still frightened from the shooting at her last performance. Kevin joined Maisha after a successful performance. They wanted to get back together, yet things were complicated. Maisha did urge Kevin not to tell Papa since they once dated.
Tiff convinced Rob to ask his family for the startup capital they needed for their weed business and cut ties with Douda.
Papa asked Kenya out, but she urged him to wait until he was eighteen. Making it legal since she was nineteen.
Rob asked his mother, portrayed by Lynn Whitfield, for a business loan. She redirected the loan as a gift in exchange for information about who killed her older brother, Q! So, he doubled his initial asking price of $50K to $100K. She redirected that he would have to do much more than detective work for the funds…
