Previously on Special Ops: Lioness Episode 4, Cruz is put in a compromising position while out with Aaliyah and friends in the Hamptons. Causing Joe and Kaitlyn to doubt her. Kaitlyn and Westfield confront Kyle over what happened at the border, complicating things further for Joe and her team.
Warning… Spoilers below!
On Special Ops: Lioness Episode 5, Cruz woke from her drugging and received a booster shot from Bobby. She learned her team rescued her in the nick of time. Then the team rolled out.
Adulting Sucks
Joe and Kaitlyn arrived at the hospital, and Kate was still in surgery. They learned that the operation went well, and the pregnancy was terminated. Kaitlyn gave her a few hours, and then it was time to report back to work.
Neal had a brief chat with Kaitlyn. He knew the importance of Joe’s job, so he didn’t ask why she needed to leave their daughter within a few hours.
Joe gives her injured daughter a heartfelt confession about why she chose her duty over her family. She felt she was sacrificing so the nation’s families could live freely with their families. Kate confessed her rebellion with her mother was rooted in missing her mother.
Joe advised her daughter to be a kid as long as possible because she could never revert once she entered adulthood. Joe told Kate about life’s sneaky punch to her chin and to be careful- her role as a mother was now as an advisor. She shared the fact that she got pregnant with Kate by accident, but it was worth it in her case. Joe took off for a mission after seeing her youngest daughter, Charlie, and hubby.
Good Intel
Joe’s team landed at the Lackland Airforce base.
Joe finally met Kyle face-to-face and ripped him a new one. Although CIA operative, Kyle, screwed up the border extraction, running an illegal op on U.S. soil. He had intel of five Al Qaeda members operating Stateside. This saving grace will keep him out of jail and the Lioness program from being exposed.
Using the intel, Westfield ordered an unsanctioned op using Joe’s team while Kyle led. With the help of San Antonio’s SWAT, they would capture the threats without harm or incident. If it succeeds, SWAT will get the credit- excusing the messy border extraction. If it failed, Kyle would be jailed.
Joe was ripped a new one by Westfield, as ops are planned at Langley, not in the field. Joe was in so much hot water that Kaitlyn joined her en route to San Antonio.
Clean Up Your Mess
When Joe met her team, she noticed Cruz with them. Initially, she benched her but was convinced they needed help from all of their tram.
Kyle instructed the team that they couldn’t return fire if shot at, which riled the squad. Kaitlyn mandated the gravity of the situation.
Suddenly, video surveillance showed the terrorist arriving at the bugged home. Footage showed them with weapons and arming explosives! This meant an imminent attack was possibly the next day.
Cruz saw action like this while in Pakistan. She explained the op. It was capture and kill, yet no one was captured. There was only one way in. The terrorist detonated the bomb, killing themselves.
Kaitlyn called in the big wigs. She convinced them there was no time to run the situation up official channels. She mandated her team take out the team, call the bomb squad, evacuate the neighborhood, and detonate the bomb. Joe’s team was ordered to play outside the lines…
Truth Is the Shrewdest Lie
While en route, Joe instructed Cruz to stay behind her knowing she was a critical asset in the next mission. Kaitlyn reminded Joe that hoovering would get her killed and set both Joe and Cruz’s focus on the current mission.
When the team arrived, they knocked out the power and stealthily crept in to kill six terrorists in the black of the night with silencers. However, the last terrorist armed his suicide vest but was killed before detonating.
As planned, they called in the bomb squad, evacuated the community, and detonated the explosive.
While on the ride out, Cruz asked Joe and Kaitlyn what story to tell Aaliyah when she returned. Kaitlyn brazenly told her to tell the truth but leave out names. The best lies are wrapped in the truth…
The next morning, Kaitlyn met with her hubby, Errol. While planning a family meeting, he grilled her about the foiled terrorist plot he discovered on the news. She told him the threats were getting worse and that it would happen again. Al Qaeda was sneaking into the United States through Mexico via the cartels. Even worse, they couldn’t stop them from entering, and the world knows it.
Spy or Hitman?
Joe returned to the hospital. Kate was knocked out and given morphine. Joe found blood on her face. Neal spotted it and questioned whether he married a hitman.
Cruz returned Aaliyah’s call. Aaliyah wanted to Facetime. Aaliyah threw hints that she was attracted to Cruz. Aaliyah asked Cruz to return to the Hamptons because she was alone…
